This week, the week of March 14-18, 2016, we will be looking at songs from groups after their lead singers left!

We call it:  "Splitsville 2"

March 14, 2016

In a reversal of last week's theme we'll take a look at some songs released after a group lost their lead singer or founder.

Initially formed in the early 60's under another name, the group War came to be under the conception of Eric Burdon in 1969.

Following the release of their second album and the hit "Spill the Wine" which went to number 3 in 1970 Burdon left the group as they were on tour.

War continued the tour and continued to release albums.

They hit the top 40 immediately and then cracked the top 20 in 1972

"Slippin Into Darkness" got to number 16 and was followed by a string of eight top 40 hits including "Cisco Kid" which went all the way to number 2 in 1973.
