This week, the week of April 18-22, 2016, we will be...completely random!

We call it:  "Meh"

April 22, 2016

Some weeks are busier than others.

Here are five songs I like...for no apparent reason!

Since there already was no theme to the week it seems okay to stop and look at Prince, who the world lost just yesterday at the tragically young age of 57.

It would be hard for me to express any better than already has been done how he touched so many careers and genres and the lives of his many fans from the most ardent to the casual observer.  Selecting one song would be impossible to show his range.  Finding his music online is equally hard as he fought fiercely for the artist's right to protect his own music.

So here are a few songs Prince wrote (or co-wrote) for other artists...all released in about a one year period...sharing his brilliance and his creativity with an even larger audience.

"Stand Back" - Stevie Nicks (1983)

"I Feel For You" - Chaka Kahn (1984)

"Sugar Walls" - Sheena Easton (1984)

"Jungle Love" - Morris Day and The Time (1984)

"Manic Monday" - The Bangles (1985)

And we'll leave it with this:

Written for one of Prince's side projects and released on The Family's LP in 1985 it was recorded as a single by Sinead O'Connor and went to number one around the world and in the US in 1990.

Here is the man himself performing the song while ringing in the year 2000.

That's it for the week.  Thanks for stopping in and see you all next week with a new theme!

Again, this song falls under the "don't ask me why I like it" category!  I'm sure a LOT of people like it (or did in the day) but it is one of those tunes that sticks in my head and you just never hear on radio stations of any format anymore.

I can remember roller skating to this...but I can't say it is the nostalgia that makes me like it because I liked it even then!

"You Should Hear How She Talks About You" was Melissa Manchester's third and final top ten hit in the US when it went to number five in September of 1982.
