This week, the week of February 8-12, 2016, we will be looking at anti-love songs!
We call it: "I love hating you!"
February 11, 2016
First a note: After almost two months it should be pretty obvious that most of the songs chosen for the MMMI are going to songs *I* like. So if you think there could be a better song (or more songs) that fit a theme feel free to share!
With that out of the way...
I know many people think Valentine's Day is just another excuse to guilt us into buying stuff for people whether it be a simple card or something much larger. To that end there have been plenty of songs over the years about love and breakups and, well, not being in love anymore.
Here are some of my favorites!
Whitfiled and Krause liked music and wanted to make music! So they formed a band.
And they liked loud, metal music!
They liked "Black Sabbath" and covered some of their songs and then while they were cutting their first album they had a chance to open for Ozzy Osbourne on tour!
Using that spotlight the band's first album spawn they first (and highest charting) song. A little ditty about their strong feelings toward that certain someone:
"Everything About You" went to #6 on the US charts in 1992 but wasn't the band's best single. That was their cover of Harry Chapin's "Cat's In The Cradle" which went to #3 the next year.
Ugly Kid Joe did, however, set a record when they were the first to have an EP (Extended Play) album go double platinum with "Ugly As They Wanna Be".
Tommorow: You know the theme, you know my musical likes, you can smell this one coming!
